Caring for Your Hair

March 5, 2013 | [ 0 ]

Although most young girls dream of having a stylish hairdo and wearing a tiara on the day they celebrate their XV, you must first provide your hair with the proper care.

Hair, just like the rest of our body, needs special care. Basic care consists of keeping it clean and free of chemicals that damage it. This can be done by washing it enough to remove chemical residue, which makes it look dull, and then applying a hair conditioner to prevent dryness.
The brand and type of product depends on your preferences, your hair type, and the condition of your hair. You can find numerous products that fit any needs, likes, and income. Here is some advice from the specialists:

  1. Normal Hair It is generally recommended to wash it frequently in order to keep it from becoming oily. Also, you must pick a gentle shampoo that is rich in nutrients to keep it healthy. Although this type of hair can withstand regular use of dryers, hair dyes, and sun exposure, you should do this only in moderation to avoid hair damage, dryness, and difficulty in managing.
  2. Dry Hair One of the advantages of having this type of hair is that, unlike oily hair, it does not require constant washing and maintains a clean appearance for a long time. It is recommended that you use a moisturizing shampoo as well as a conditioning hair treatment at least once a week to prevent further dryness. If your hair is dry and very damaged, it is suggested that you use a restoring cream. If your hair tangles easily, it is recommended that you use a conditioning cream, paying extra attention to hair ends. It is not advisable to use a hair dryer frequently. If you absolutely have to, it is advised to use it in low power.
  3. Oily Hair When washing it, you must use a shampoo that controls scalp oils. It is not recommended to massage your scalp during the washing process because this activates sebaceous cells, which produce more oil. The shampoo can either be oil control or, if you plan to wash it daily, it can be normal—shampoo bottles usually specify what type of shampoo you are about to purchase. An advantage of having this type of hair is that it shines when just washed; a disadvantage is the short amount of time that it remains clean.
It does not matter what kind of hair you have, what matters is that you wash it well and rinse it thoroughly to remove product residue. Before wetting your hair, it is recommended that you brush it until it is untangled to make the washing process easier; do not forget to let it air dry before using a hair dryer or a curling iron.
Although you may like having long hair, you must trim the ends regularly to keep it looking healthy. Besides keeping your hair free of split ends, regular trims contribute to its growth.

Nurture your Body/Nurture your Hair

A well-balanced diet keeps you in excellent shape. The digestion of food products that contain vitamins A, E, and H will tone and strengthen your hair; minerals such as iron, copper, potassium, and magnesium will keep it healthy. You can obtain these nutrients through vegetables, dairy products, cereals, oils, red meat, dry fruits, avocados, etc. As you can see, a wide variety of food products provide you with the necessary nutrients to keep your hair strong and healthy.
