Eva Mendes stars in coming of age story “Girl in Progress”

Grace, played by Eva Mendes, and Ansidedad, carried out by Cierra Ramirez, learn the ropes of maturity.
“Girl in Progress” is a coming of age story where both mother and daughter simultaneously learn the ropes of maturity. Grace, played by Eva Mendes, is a single mother struggling to maintain the household and her sanity. Ansidedad, carried out by Cierra Ramirez in this debut role, is a thirteen year old neglected by her mother.
When Ansiedad’s English teacher, Ms. Armstrong (Patricia Arquette), introduces her students to coming-of-age stories, Ansiedad decides to take a shortcut to “adulthood”, and more importantly a life without her mom.
Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez also stars in the movie alongside Matthew Modine and Patricia Arquette. The Pantelion Films movie, directed by Patricia Riggen, will open in theaters on April 27.
